Growth hormone axis Research compound (not approved for human use)

Growth hormone secretagogue (ghrelin mimetic) · also known as NNC 26-0161

Ipamorelin is a selective growth-hormone secretagogue that stimulates the pituitary to release growth hormone. It is valued in research for being relatively selective, with limited effect on cortisol or prolactin compared with older secretagogues.

Commonly reported dosing (10 mg vial)

Reconstituted with 3 mL → 3.333 mg/mL.

Also sold in 5 mg vials.

Commonly reported reconstitution steps

  1. Vials are usually brought to room temperature (about 15-20 minutes) first.
  2. 3 mL of bacteriostatic water is added slowly down the inside wall of the 10 mg vial.
  3. The vial is swirled gently until clear, not shaken.
  4. This gives 3.33 mg/mL. Mixed vials are typically labeled with the date and refrigerated.

Storage

Before mixing: Sealed vials are commonly stored refrigerated (2-8 °C) and protected from light, or frozen for long-term storage.

After mixing: Reconstituted solution is commonly kept refrigerated (2-8 °C), protected from light, and not frozen.

Commonly used within 28 days of mixing.

How it works

Ipamorelin binds the ghrelin/GHS receptor and prompts a pulse of endogenous growth hormone release, producing a pulse of GH release.

Researched for

  • Selective GH release with minimal effect on cortisol/prolactin in studies.
  • Commonly paired with CJC-1295 to combine a releasing peptide with a secretagogue.

Notes

  • Timing around meals and sleep is a common research variable.
  • Often dosed in micrograms; a 10 mg vial lasts many doses.
